Head of the Directorate Higher Education, Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF)
Peter Greisler has lead the Higher Education Directorate of BMBF since 2004. His responsibilities include the German Research Foundation (DFG), higher education, social issues regarding higher education (BAföG), career paths of researchers, the internationalisation of universities and continuing education at higher education institutions.
Peter Greisler studied law in Erlangen and Mainz, France and Great Britain. He started his professional career with the Federal Ministry for Research and Technology (BMFT – since 1994, Federal Ministry of Education and Research, BMBF) in 1991, where he worked in different fields ranging from international nuclear energy policy and other international affairs to personnel, cabinet and parliamentary issues and research into sustainability, science and society.
