Lindsey Bultema

Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter

Lindsey Bultema

Lindsey Bultema, doctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter in Hamburg, is the 2019 Chemistry, Physics and Technology (CPT) representative and current spokesperson of Max Planck PhDnet. Wanting to immerse herself in another country and culture, she made the jump from Fargo, North Dakota, USA, to Berlin, Germany for her Master’s in Polymer Science. Over her academic journey, she has successfully managed to change fields and supervisors. She advocates that mental health is just as important as physical health and helped launch the first Max Planck wide mental health awareness week. Overall she hopes to empower early career researchers in finding their voice and for them to realize there is “a light at the end of the tunnel.”
